Vacant house on Pritchard Avenue catches fire - again

A vacant home that burned late last year burned again on Tuesday afternoon.

A house at 679 Pritchard Ave. in the North End caught fire at about 4:30 p.m.

It appears the fire started in the garage and moved to the house, and also set a hydro pole on fire.

The home next door at 675 Pritchard Ave. also suffered damage, and a house on Manitoba Avenue was damaged as well.

One witness said they heard an explosion before the flames began. A firefighter on scene said the fire was likely arson, but there was no confirmation on what caused the blaze.

There appear to be no injuries. Damage is estimated at about $55,000, said firefighters at the scene.

The same house caught fire in December of 2018 and police at the time deemed the fire “suspicious.”

The fire appears to have started in the garage at a house on Pritchard Avenue Tuesday June 11, 2019.
