The Black Keys announce 9th album, 'Let's Rock'; share song "Eagle Birds"

The Black Keys made it official today. Their ninth studio record will be called Let’s Rock and comes out on June 28th.

The band also shared new song, “Eagle Birds.” The song is our second taste of the new album after the single “Lo/Hi.”

In a statement the band said this about the upcoming record.

When we’re together we are the Black Keys, that’s where that real magic is, and always has been since we were 16,” Dan Auerbach said. “The record is like a homage to electric guitar,” Patrick Carney added. “We took a simple approach and trimmed all the fat like we used to.”

Talking about the inspiration for the album title on Beats 1, Auerbach said they were reading the local news and were inspired by a story.

They executed the first prisoner in 16 years in Nashville, the week that we recorded the record, and they asked for his final words and he said ‘let’s rock.’”
