A home in Winnipeg’s North End went up in flames on Friday night.
Crews were called around 7:30 p.m. to the 400 block of Aberdeen Avenue.
“Once on scene crews found the fire well involved with thick smoke throughout the home. An interior, offensive attack was launched however deteriorating conditions forced crews to retreat and fight the fire defensively,” said a City spokesperson.
Flames were seen bursting out of an upstairs window after it was busted by a fire hose.
Everyone was able to escape the home, which is expected to be a complete loss.
The house next door was also evacuated as a precaution.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation and no damage estimates were immediately available.
Aberdeen Avenue is slippery and crews will be applying sand and de-icing agents to the street, however, caution is advised for motorists, said the City.
