According to a press release, “Slurpee drinks were first poured in Calgary in 1969,” and have since become a Canada-wide favourite. Manitoba has apparently held the honour of Slurpee Capital of the World for 19 years in a row now and the City of Winnipeg will temporarily boast a street with the honourary name ‘Slurpee Way.’ Guessed to be in the Westwood area.
The company considers ‘7-Eleven Day’ its birthday and invites Canadians to celebrate the unofficial annual holiday by giving away 900,000 free small birthday-sized Slurpees in a special 7-Eleven Day Cup featuring photos of Slurpee fans. Aka July 11 2018 you can get a free slurpee.
