Humboldt Broncos bus crash prompts increase in blood donations

Canadian Blood Services says donations are on the rise after Friday’s tragic bus crash involving the Humboldt Broncos.

Yesterday, there was a mobile clinic in Tisdale, a community near to the crash site.

Winnipeggers also gave blood generously this past weekend with 126 units of blood donated – 30 more than the projected 96 units.

Canadian Blood Services also said its Saskatoon clinic was over-capacity on Saturday as nearly double the average number of donations were received.

An average Saturday at the Saskatoon clinic sees 80 blood donations come in. On Saturday between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m., 150 donations were received.

Good job, Canada.
