Winnipeg is a hotbed for talented musicians. Many of them are women.
In a time where equal representation is top of mind, Girls with Guitars, a film by some of Winnipeg’s most outstanding and outspoken female musicians sheds a light on some of the misconceptions and stigma that women face in what is still a male dominated environment.
The full length feature film was written and directed by Kalyn Hanuschuk with Cindy Fouillard and Jennifer Norris Wuckert for the Stories from Home Manitoba docu-series.
I don’t know the latter two, but I have seen Kalyn shred in more than a few bands on more than a few stages and I have always admired the $#!t out of her.
Girls with Guitars gets its big release tonight, March 31st, at the Park Theatre, followed by a rock show featuring more fun and fearless females including:
Doors Open at 6:30 and the movie starts at 7. Bands play at 9.
$10 if you just want to see the movie, or just want to see the bands or $15 for both.
